Reality is acting strange

Graphite pencil, Silver Leaf, Acrylic painting, Markers on Wooden Panel Year: 2026 Signed: On the back The central figure, created through a controlled and disciplined graphite technique, is a solid element in the composition. Around it, a halo of silvery light generates a diffraction effect that escapes predictable patterns and takes on irregular forms. It gives rise to imaginative elements. The graphite creates waves and branching structures that spread into the space of color, fraying and destabilizing the contours of the real, gradually eroding the very perception of reality. What emerges is a subversive visual system, no longer governed by physical laws, captured in a state of transformation, whose outcome remains unknown. For this composition, I used a mixed media technique. The support is a wooden panel prepared with gesso and finely sanded; the blue and black background areas are painted with acrylics. The halo has been finished with silver leaf. The ornamental details – the abstract flowers and contour lines – are created using UniPosca markers. For the portrait, I chose to challenge myself with a female face featuring masculine and markedly asymmetrical traits, which required rigorous technical attention to build a sense of balance within the dissonance of the features. The flowers float, while the swirling lines evoke a transformation of perceived reality and of predictable structures.
