“Human before perfection”

I’m Nataliia Shamarina, a photographer from Ukraine, now based in Berlin. I came to Berlin and, in many ways, had to rebuild myself from the beginning. Photography became part of that process — a way to keep looking, feeling and finding beauty even when life itself is far from perfect. I photograph people, especially women, drawn to the moments when they stop trying to look a certain way and simply become themselves. I find beauty in movement, imperfect gestures, changing light, a strand of hair out of place, a look that lasts only a second. My work is cinematic and editorial, but at its heart it is about people. About seeing something beautiful without needing to make it perfect. Human before perfection.
